The Gion Bridge is one of the largest stone girder bridges in Japan, located in Funenoo Town, Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is designated as a national important cultural property because of its multi-legged structure, which is rare in Japan. Artist :川瀬巴水 (Kawase Hasui / かわせ はすい) Kawase Hasui (May 18, 1883 - November 7, 1957) was a woodblock print artist active during the Taisho and Showa periods. He established the world of new prints in an attempt to revive the declining Japanese ukiyoe prints. His works were highly acclaimed overseas, and he has been called the "Hiroshige of the Showa period.
