Vincent van Gogh (1853 – 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who in just over a decade created approximately 2,100 paintings including about 860 oil paintings, most of which were created during the last two years of his life. Van Gogh is considered among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. Unfortunately all this came after his death when at age 37 he committed suicide after years of struggling with poverty and mental illness.
