Artist Henriette Ronner-Knip was always a talented artist, but she became famous only after she adopted the cat as her muse. Her paintings of cats and their kittens were in great demand in Europe and allowed her to provide comfortably for her family. In this selected crop of an 1893 Ronner-Knip painting, a mother cat nurses her yellow and orange tabby kittens.
