Computer colourized by Mark Edward Westerfield www.zazzle.com/markewesterfield 2024 I colourized this Vintage Public Domain Viking Era Theme image for a wedding anniversary card for my sister and her husband as my sister's (and my) direct ancestors include the Mediaeval and ancient Viking Era kings in Norway ... and also through related kings of Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Russia, and other European countries when you go back enough. This has always fascinated me. It is an awesome history to know anything about. Our Grandma Phyllis Talla Johnson Westerfield's middle name Talla was her mother's (our great grandmother's) Clara (Claire) Sage Talla Johnson's maiden name Talla which came from the Talle / Talla Farm in Lustre Fjord Valley in Norway. All four grandparents of our great grandma (Clara Sage Talla Johnson) immigrated in the mid 1800s from Norway ... three from Lustre Fjord Valley, the inner-most northerly branch of greater Sogne Fjord which emptied on the western coast of Norway. According to ancient Norse Sagas, we even directly descend from a king of Sogne (Halfdan Svarti) going back to the mid 800s, a thousand years before the immigrants arrived in America! So all these stories have been a source of fascination for our family. So, when I colourized this old public domain vintage engraving it had a family connection that inspired me to do my best on it.
