In today's world, it would be unconscionable to see such an advertisement. However, this is an actual vintage advertisement for "Homely Women" to help them improve their physical appearance. For $1.00 and a two-cent stamp, "the plainer sisterhood" could write and receive a scrapbook filled with secrets and tips regarding practical devices for ugly ears, mouths, fingertips and crooked teeth. They could learn how to bleach imperfections in their skin, reduce flesh, choose the right cosmetics for a variety of lighting circumstances, and learn how to pose for a photograph. All of this to help them compete with "pretty women who had advantages enough without being told how to double their beauty." Card is blank inside for your handwritten message.
