Vintage illustration Victorian black and white fairy tales and nursery rhymes story image by John Tenniel in Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, 1865. Alice meets the Cheshire Cat who is up in a tree in the forest. Alice is portrayed as a quaintly logical girl, sometimes even pedantic. She is seven years old but acts much older. The Cheshire Cat is a striped Tabby known for his distinctive mischievous grin and is a mischief maker.
