Student and collaborator of Felicien Rops, he illustrated Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal. With Emile Berchmans and Auguste Donnay, Rassenfosse was one of the leading poster artists in in the Auguste Bénard printing company in Liège: the collaboration between the three artists from Liège and the French printer was a major contribution to the poster art in Europe in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
