Vintage illustration Merry Christmas holiday design featuring a page from the book Santa Claus and His Works. Published by McLoughlin Brothers in 1889.
The story tells of Santa's work making toys for all the good little boys and girls around the world.
This Victorian Era image shows an old, jolly Saint Nicholas at his workshop in the North Pole looking out over the horizon with a telescope. His pet dog is by his side while the sunrise is in the distance over the ocean with icebergs.

This card moved me so that I matted and framed 15 of these cards to give as gifts to my own children and closest friends. They loved them and will bring the framed angels out every Christmas to be enjoyed. Printing was rich and warm. The colors were clear and very pretty. I can picture these girls walking in a forest in Germany where we lived in Nuremberg. It is a lovely memory. Others will feel their own memory.
