Vintage Firemen - Fire Station Beds Mousepad

Their pants are on the floor at the foot of their beds in the station dormitory. Their boots are already in place in the pants legs, so that when that alarm bell startles the fireman out of a sound sleep he can fly into those boots and pants and dive down the hole and pole in the left lower corner of the photo. This unusual ca. 1918 photo on the mousepad was a press photo that recorded a scene of the firehouse and firemen that is seen far less often than the fire equipment downstairs.
