Vision of Fiammetta (by Dante Gabriel Rossetti) Notebook

This design features a painting by the English artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828–1882), who was the founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood artistic movement. The painting is inspired by the writings of the Italian poet Giovanni Boccaccio, particularly his depiction of Fiammetta, a muse and beloved figure in his works. Rossetti presents Fiammetta as a strikingly beautiful woman, depicted here in a half-length portrait. She is shown in a three-quarter pose, her head gently tilted to the side, with her gaze directed away from the viewer. This pose, combined with her serene expression, imbues the painting with a sense of gentle melancholy and introspection. Fiammetta’s face is framed by a cascade of rich auburn hair that flows down over her shoulders, a characteristic detail in Rossetti’s portrayal of women. Fiammetta holds a the branches of a tree in her hands, and these branches are blooming with beautiful pink flower blossoms. There is also a red bird flying above Fiammetta's head. The original artwork was painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti in 1878.
