This postcard features the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.Just off the shore of Kanyakumari (100 metres away), this rock can be reached via ferries which depart at regular intervals from the jetty. Built by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in 1892 to felicitate Swami Vivekananda’s visit to the place, this attraction is split into two parts: a meditation hall dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, and the Holy Foot—a giant foot carved out of rock that is believed to be the footprint of Goddess Kumari. The rock has a giant statue of Swami Vivekananda and also a meditation hall. Photography isn’t allowed at the latter. The Rock is only accessible during the day and is barred post-sunset.
