Official national flag of Wales The Welsh national flag has a white and green background with a red dragon in the centre. The dragon is the Red Dragon of Cadwaladr, King of Gwynedd, and is known as Y Ddraig Goch in Welsh. Note that different renderings of the dragon may be used. The flag was officially adopted in 1959.
