Wash Day in the Fifties Postcard

Back in the day when washers and dryers were impossible dreams, the old wash pot served faithfully. Whiter whites were possible with hard work and strong women. Children helped gather firewood and the older ones could rinse the lye soap from the fabric and hang the clothes on the line. If her children were not old enough to help, it was all on her. Mama was a true workhorse in the days before modern conveniences arrived on the scene! This painting is a tribute to hardworking women everywhere.
