Watanabe Star Tea Towel

The "Watanabe Star" is also known as "Three Stars and One Character". The three stars are said to represent the general star, and the reason for adding the "one" character is said to have come from the intention to "defeat the enemy". This custom has been practiced since the Kamakura period, and during the Sengoku period, it was popular to write "one" in the names of samurai and read it as "katsu". The Watanabe surname often uses this character.
