Water Lilies, c. 1916, is one of a series of over two hundred water lily flower paintings by French Impressionism artist Claude Monet painting them at his garden pond beginning in the early 1900's. At that time, he constructed his flower garden with the intent to use it as inspiration to create plein air flower paintings. He added a pond, with a Japanese style bridge over it, always adding many types of plants throughout his beautiful garden.
