I had a friend who lost her beloved husband and couldn't imagine ever being happy again. In the following days and weeks, the image of daffodils blooming despite the snow kept coming to my mind. Finally I sat down and painted it for her, hoping it would comfort her in her time of sorrow by reminding her that even when we can't see it, seeds are growing far beneath the snow. I hope it comforts others as well.
