White House After British Attack 1814 Poster
The ruins of the White House after burning by British troops. On August 24, 1814, during the second year of the War of 1812, British troops commanded by Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Cockburn and Major General Robert Ross set fire to All the public buildings (except the Patent Office Building) in the developing city of Washington, DC. The unfinished Capitol building comprised two wings connected by a wooden causeway when it was set on fire. There is fire damage to the Senate and House wings. The damaged colonnade in the House of Representatives is shored up with firewood to prevent its collapse. The shell of the rotunda, the facade and roof are missing. I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame.
This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again.
One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up.
Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font.
Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
