White Ibis Wading Bird on Sanibel Island Florida

The birds of Sanibel Island, Florida are an amazing sight to behold - a true birder's paradise. The White Ibis usually fly away when approached within 12 feet, but this one was probably too full to fly after having his lunch! The White Ibis is a wading bird of the deep South that can usually be seen probing for prey along the shoreline. As seen in this photograph, the White Ibis has a snow-white body, long red legs, and a long bright red bill.
