White Orchard by Vincent Van Gogh, oil on canvas 1888, is a landscape painting of cultivated, blooming fruit trees planted in rows in an orchard in the French country beneath a pale sky. With a variety of brush strokes of thick and thin oil colours, Van Gogh applies the lessons of Impressionism to his own unique interpretation of nature, drawn with bold outlines and contrasting dark colours in the tree limbs and details. Van Gogh painted many such studies of blossoming fruit trees while living in Arles in the south of France.
