William H. Hannon Library Magnet

Located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the William H. Hannon Library opened in 2009. Designed by the architectural firm of AECOM, the building draws upon the artistic harmony represented by the image of a circle. The design capitalises on the building’s prominent location and Loyola Marymount University’s desire to have a building that would serve dual roles: to function as a gateway that links the academic and residential precincts of the campus, and to be an identifiable landmark both on and off campus. The library incorporate environmentally sensitive design elements and materials in accordance with LMU’s philosophy of good environmental stewardship. The building has LEED-certified Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.
