The image embellishing this product was designed in the early 20th century by John Dearle (1859-1932) for Morris & Co. Dearle was a talented designer who started out as an apprentice under William Morris (1834-1896) and later rose to the position of chief textile designer at Morris & Co. Dearle continued working for Morris' firm long after his passing in 1896. Some of the firm's most beautiful woven textiles were created under Dearle's leadership.

Refurbishing our kitchen, we re-used some old Mexican drawer knobs we loved, but were short of four, so chose these as they looked as if they would happily co-exist with the old ones - and they do. Colour was very slightly lighter than the picture., but not enough to worry us.
