Winter Leaves Puzzle

A stand of trees on an overcast winter day. The tall trees are bare and leafless, but the saplings underneath still have their brown leaves. The still-clinging and fallen leaves in shades of almost-pink provide a contrast to the dark trunks and foggy blue haze above. This hanging on of dead leaves through the winter is called "marcescence", and it is especially common in young oak trees like these.
