World Environment Day (WED) is an international day of environmental awareness and action that happens on 5th June each year. Started in 1974 by the United Nations, WED is hosted in a different country each year, with events focusing on a central theme. WED is an important example of how people should care for the environment, raising awareness of the increasing levels of pollution, human overpopulation and climate change. This design focuses on Tree Planting - trees help combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, removing and storing carbon, and releasing oxygen into the air. They also reduce wind speeds and cool the air as they lose moisture and reflect heat upwards from their leaves. More trees will help to improve our health and wellbeing too - they’re are the win-win we need for both our health, and the planet’s!
