I was reading about Traditional Chinese Medicine on vacation in Omaha, NE. The idea that opposites, yin and yang, night and day, are so intricately woven into existence opened up new places within my psyche. I spent much of my vacation with acrylic paints and canvas, allowing the image to unfold...an oak tree with a moonlike Tao symbol in the background. A few years later I began my studies at the Maryland Institute in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I practiced for 25 years as alicensed acupuncturist.
