The 10th Mountain Division is a light infantry division in the Army based at Fort Drum, New York. The division is a part of Army Forces Command and a subordinate unit of the XVIII Airborne Corps. Originally constituted as a unique mountain warfare unit, the division was the only unit of its size in the Army to specialise in fighting in mountainous and arctic conditions, Today the division retains its "mountain" designation for historical purposes. The 10th has seen combat during World War II, Persian Gulf War, Somali Civil War, Invasion of Haiti, 1995 NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina after the Bosnian war. Afghanistan War & Iraq War along with Hurricane Andrew disaster relief in South Florida in 1992.
