A Pirate's Apron

During her exploration of Quebradillas, María wandered into a bustling market, where she met Doña Carmen, an elderly woman selling hand-made cooking aprons. Intrigued by María’s eagerness to learn about Puerto Rican cuisine, Doña Carmen invited her to her home the next day. There, María learned to cook traditional dishes like mofongo and arroz con gandules, with neighbours like Don Pedro and Marisol joining in to share their culinary secrets. As they cooked and laughed together, María not only mastered the art of Puerto Rican cooking but also found herself embraced by a new community, deepening her connection to the island.
