Elsie believed in doing as she was told, so she never questioned this strange story. Elsie only lifted the lid on a rare occasion. But she loved the gentle musical chimes and would watch entranced as the princely cat, slowly twirled. His eyes seemed sad and she felt a bit sorry for him, but she always managed to slam the lid shut before the last tiny bells chimed. Then one day a cold gust of wind whipped into her bedroom. She walked towards the purple petals the breeze carried in before realising her mistake. She rushed to close the lid of the music box but was too late and the last notes played into her otherwise silent room. She lifted the lid and looked inside, but it was empty. She startled when she saw what was standing next to her, just at the height of her knee. It was the cat. His suit was perfectly creased and he gave her a long kind look. He presented her with the bouquet of purple flowers, before turning to walk out the door.
