Anstruther Harbour Postcard

This postcard features the beautiful seaside harbour village of Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland, UK, Europe, and is a mixture of a digital watercolour painting and photography. A typical seaside town on the east coast, Anstruther reminds me why I dislike modern architecture so much. Unlike today's featureless carbuncles of stainless steel and breeze block construction, the buildings here provide a rich tapestry of textures and features to delight the eye. I've taken artistic licence by colouring the houses along the harbour according to my fancy, but the diversity of construction and detail are clear. Gulls are common, so I've added two plus there are a couple of blackbirds singing from the chimneypots. There are also two beautiful pied wagtails - one on the foreshore and its mate hopping along the harbour wall.
