Antique Distressed Clock

I photographed the clock face from an antique clock which fell into disrepair many years ago. The face is the only part left from the original mantle type clock. Shortly after the turn of 19th Century, clocks could be plugged into a common electrical outlet and divide the 60hz frequency to drive the minute hand to make a complete rotation in 60 minutes. There was a knob on the back of the clock which needed to be spun by hand after power was applied. If power was removed and re-applied, you needed to spin up the motor by using the knob on the back of the clock. A few years later, clock manufacturers redesigned motors to begin spinning as soon as power was applied. These clocks were known as "self starting." This antique clock bears the description, "self starting" and earns its place in the history of clock making.
