The Augsburg Confession, presented in 1530, outlines the core beliefs of the Lutheran Reformation. It emphasises justification by grace through faith, the authority of Scripture, and the proper administration of the sacraments. It also addresses perceived abuses in the mediaeval church and seeks to demonstrate that Lutheran beliefs are consistent with Christian tradition. This image is by Wenceslaus Hollar (23 July 1607 – 25 March 1677) was a prolific and accomplished Bohemian graphic artist of the 17th century, who spent much of his life in England.
