B-25 Mitchell 2011 Calendar

B-25 Mitchell 2011 Calendar

Calendar featuring monthly images of the B-25 Mitchell medium-range bomber from WWII. The B-25 Mitchell is a medium bomber that played a crucial role in World War II and became one of the most iconic aircraft of its time. The B-25 first took to the skies in August 1940. Named after the famed military aviator Major General William "Billy" Mitchell, the aircraft was intended for high-altitude strategic bombing but later found its niche in low-altitude strafing and bombing missions. Its adaptability and versatility made it a valuable asset for Allied forces. The B-25 gained widespread recognition for its participation in the daring Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942. B-25s launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet to strike the Japanese mainland. Although the raid caused minimal damage, it boosted Allied morale and forced the Japanese to divert resources for homeland defence. The B-25 continued to serve throughout World War II in various theatres, performing missions ranging from bombing runs to anti-shipping attacks. Its durability and effectiveness made it a reliable workhorse, and its legacy extended beyond the war, with some variants remaining in service for decades. The B-25 Mitchell stands as a testament to the ingenuity and adaptability of aviation engineers during a critical period in history.

I got this as a gift for my busy friend and she uses it every day, the large calendar has space large enough to fill in all her plans for the day. The printing was clear and there are holes to hang it up on a nail which I didn't notice straight away.
