Bathing Group of 1914 Canvas Print

A reproduction of "A Bathing Group" of 1914 by Henry Scott Tuke. Fascinated by the luminous effects of sunlight on bodies and on water, Tuke commented that he liked to work in the open air, on ‘quiet beaches, some of them hardly accessible by boat, where one may paint from the life model undisturbed’. He continued to work in this fashion for much of his life, painting images of male nudes by the sea and on boats — swimming, diving and lounging around. The artist was a native of Cornwall who died in 1929 at the age of seventy-one years. His twin abiding loves were the sea and boys. This caused quite a stir in Victorian and Edwardian England, but he was nonetheless a member of the Royal Academy.
