As an artist and a homebirthing mother, I recognise the value in birth affirmations while preparing for birth and during labour. These posters use apt statements and beautiful paintings to treat your eyes, soothe your spirit and keep you focused on the prize. "My body made this baby, my body will birth this baby PERFECTLY" For various reasons, fear and intimidation of birth and its processes is rampant in our culture. It can be profoundly beneficial to meditate on the simple fact that our bodies do a very good job of their task. Our bodies create human beings inside them. We need not remember to develop the brain during a certain month, or put, "create foetal eyelids" on our todo list. Our bodies just do it. Perfectly. Birth is a natural function. With or without our conscious focus, birth will happen. Use this card to remind yourself that your body is doing an incredible work and you can trust it to birth your baby perfectly.
