"Blue Aurora" Spiral Notebook

This image was painted as part of my Light winter nights project where I explored watercolour techniques from salt to layering to using mica powders to create a diverse group of northern light paintings. Later that same year we had one of the most amazing displays of northern lights across half of the world including our little town of Tumbler Ridge in Northern BC. While nature provided a more colorful display of purples to greens, this simple blue layered design is the one I chose to hang in my own home as it speaks to me of the movement I saw that night while sitting outside by the creek watching the dancing lights in the sky.
