About This Design

Candy Cane Stripes Diagonal Pattern Red Green Tissue Paper

Candy Cane Stripes Diagonal Pattern Red Green Tissue Paper

Candy cane coloured stripes in a lively diagonal pattern of red, white and green, cheerful and bright for the festive season! You can use the customise tool to add text if desired, rotate the angle of the stripes or make the pattern larger or smaller. You can even change the white striped background to another colour if you want! Candy canes have long been favourite delights at Christmas. According to folk history, these sweet treats are said to have originated in Europe. As the story goes, a choirmaster in Cologne, Germany asked a local candymaker to create some sticks of candy for children, to keep the kids quiet during the Christmas Eve service at the church. To justify the giving of candy in church, the choirmaster asked the candy maker to put a hook on the end of each stick to resemble the crook or staff of a shepherd, thus relate to the traditional nativity scene. The white of the candy canes were said to represent the innocence of baby Jesus. Whether or not this tale about the origin of candy canes is true, these classic sweets have a long tradition, first recorded in association with Christmas in 1874. Happy blessings to you and yours, at Christmas time and throughout the year!

Custom Tissue Paper - 15 gsm (10lb), Size: 25.4 cm x 35.56 cm (10" x 14")
The application of this decoupage paper was very simple , applied with PVA glue on a plywood surface. The colour stayed true to paper before application . I used cling film to apply over ply wood , no wrinkles , very pleased with the result.

I knew this would be stunning but it's even better than I expected! Really happy with my design and chuffed I picked this one. Be prepared to wait though if you choose the slowest delivery, took 3 weeks to come, but arrived within stated timeframe. Perfect imagery, colour and print, so easy to use the offcuts for spare bits...I only planned on doing the two back panels of my tv unit but ended up doing three other gaps!
