"Certified Cool Design" Back in the 1970s and 80s they used to use a standardised symbol similar to this to star rate the power of refrigerator iceboxes so you could work out how long frozen foods would keep according to the particular star rating of your icebox. With the invention of fridge/freezers this practice seems to have pretty much gone by the board (pardon the pun). This design is based on this standard symbol. What could be cooler? It's certified :)
