About This Design

Charles Vane Postcard

Charles Vane Postcard

Charles Vane was a notorious English pirate who operated in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century. Little is known about Vane's early life, but he gained infamy as a ruthless and daring pirate captain. Vane is believed to have started his pirate career as a crew member under the infamous pirate Henry Jennings. However, Vane's aggressive and independant nature led to conflicts, and he soon became captain of his own ship. Known for his brutality, Vane showed no mercy to his victims and often engaged in violent attacks against both merchant vessels and naval ships. One of Vane's most infamous exploits occurred in 1718 when he rejected a royal pardon offered by the governor of the Bahamas, Woodes Rogers. Vane and his crew escaped from Nassau, continuing their piratical activities. Vane's refusal to accept the pardon and his continued acts of piracy ultimately led to his downfall. In 1719, Vane was captured by pirate hunter Jonathan Barnet, brought to trial, and subsequently hanged in Port Royal, Jamaica. Charles Vane's life epitomises the lawlessness and violence associated with the Golden Age of Piracy, and his legacy endures as a symbol of the audacious and dangerous nature of pirates during that era.

Bought 10 Shakespeare quotes postcards and have framed them individually and placed them around the house Love them, some are funny and some are deep and meaningful! Lovely background on some, excellent printed words. A couple of plain white cards with black print - very stricking

My order was probably an awkward one! I asked for a range of different fine-art prints, in postcard size. It was all freshly printed, delivered quickly and at a very reasonable price. Best quality matt finish I've seen on a fine-art print.

These cards are great quality, I use them as enclosure cards for my business! Hey are a little pricey but you definitely get the quality and professionalism! Repurchased a few times now and will continue to do so :). Beautiful, nice sheen on them, sharp and clear
