Clipper Ship Esther Roy 1898 Tile

Clipper Ship Esther Roy 1898 Tile

Esther Roy of Maitland H McDougall Master off Holyhead 12 Nov 1898 The last and largest clipper ship project undertaken by the firm Frieze and Roy was a shipping, shipbuilding and trading firm located in Maitland, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1836 was Esther Roy, a ship of 1,533 tons, which was launched in 1877. She was later sold to an Italian company in 1895. Clipper ships were mid-19th century merchant sailing vessels designed for speed. They were narrow for their length, small by later 19th-century standards, and could carry limited bulk freight. They had a large total sail area and could travel at speeds of up to 30 kilometres an hour, far faster than the average merchant ship.

Really nice image fixed to the tiles in my shower as a background to a soap dish. This was to hide the marks left by a broken soap dish. Just used tile adhesive and white grout. I think it looks good, almost like the drips are falling from the soap dish. No probs. Nice image.

My heart skipped a beat when I found this collection of Art Nouveau designs. I have created a fireplace where there was none. Amazing. The tiles were exactly as depicted
