Cocker Spaniel, Art Deco Dog Postcard

Cocker Spaniel, Art Deco Dog Postcard A golden Cocker Spaniel with long, wavy ears sits on a marble terrace above the sea, wearing a triple strand of pearls. Behind her, a white balustrade overlooks the bay, sailboats drift by, and cypress trees climb the cliffs towards a hilltop temple. Her soft brown eyes and flowing coat give the scene the gentle glamour of a summer afternoon on the Riviera. That soft glamour shapes the design. The Cocker's flowing golden coat is cut in warm faceted planes that blend into a radiant ringed sunburst. The pearls add a classic touch of elegance, and a stepped gold frame rises around her like the doorway of a 1920s garden terrace. A turquoise bay and bright clouds set off a jewel-box palette of gold, emerald, black, and ruby. Four gold paw-print medallions hold the corners, marbled emerald panels and stepped geometric bands build the frame, gold fans crown the top and bottom, and the black COCKER SPANIEL title plaque, lettered in gold across two stacked lines, names the portrait in true 1920s style. Rather than a blank back, the reverse keeps the Riviera theme going. A warm ivory writing field leaves plenty of room for a note inside a gold, black, emerald, and ruby frame with a gold paw-print medallion in every corner, and a golden dog in a jewelled paw collar rests on a sunlit terrace above the Mediterranean, where cypress, temples, and sailboats catch the sunset. The paw-crested Art Deco Postcard Collection emblem, address lines, and stamp box round out the design. • Golden Cocker Spaniel wearing pearls on a Mediterranean terrace • Radiant Art Deco sunburst, long wavy ears, and triple pearl strand • Gold paw-print corner medallions, emerald marble, and ruby accents • Illustrated Mediterranean back with ivory message field, address lines, and stamp box • Part of the Art Deco Postcard Collection
