Commodore Stephen Decatur Metal Tree Decoration

Commodore Stephen Decatur Metal Tree Decoration

Commodore Stephen Decatur Metal Ornament Stephen Decatur was a celebrated American naval officer. Born in 1779 in Maryland, Decatur began his naval career at a young age, enlisting as a midshipman at just 17. He gained recognition for his daring actions in the First Barbary War, particularly for his leadership during the daring raid on the captured U.S. frigate USS Philadelphia in Tripoli Harbour. Decatur's success in burning the Philadelphia to prevent its use by the enemy earned him widespread acclaim and the promotion to the rank of captain at the age of 25, making him the youngest captain in American history at the time. Decatur's career continued to flourish during the War of 1812, where he achieved further renown for his naval victories, including the capture of HMS Macedonian and the USS President. His heroic actions in these battles solidified his reputation as one of America's most skilled naval commanders. Tragically, Decatur's life was cut short at the age of 41 when he died in a duel with fellow naval officer James Barron in 1820. Despite his untimely death, Stephen Decatur's legacy endures as a symbol of American naval valour and his unwavering dedication to the defence of his nation's interests on the high seas.

What a cute ornament with all the best bosses from Mega Man 1-4! The coating (to keep from scratching) almost feels like podge glue. Awesome! Very awesome - see my photo for size.
