NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test DART spacecraft impacted Dimorphos, the moonlet of asteroid Didymos, on September 26, 2022. It sent back this amazing photo of the moonlet’s rocky surface from approximately 7 miles and 2 seconds before impact. The image of the surface has been flipped horizontally and sharpened to show how it would appear if you were there observing it.
