Daylight Speedliner RDC #1961 Postcard

From www.railphotoexpress.biz Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Daylight Speedliner Rail Diesel Car Budd Company,Model RDC-2 In 1956, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad decided to use the Rail Diesel Cars (RDC) for long distance Passenger trips. The RDC was a self-propelled pocket streamliner that was introduced by the BUDD Company of Philadelphia in 1949. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad purchased the #1961 RDC in October of 1956. The #1961 was renumbered as the #9941 in 1970. The #9941 operated in passenger service between Philadelphia, Washington and Pittsburgh with a connecting service to Cleveland. The connecting service to Cleveland ended in 1958 and the run also cut back from Philadelphia to Baltimore. Twenty-four passengers could be carried in the rear of the car, while a kitchen cooked regular meals and featured 8 tables.
