(click to edit)I painted this as one of a set of five paintings given to our teachers at Five Branches University as our class gift upon graduation from Chinese medical school. We had five classrooms which were named Bamboo, Jade, Phoenix, Dragon, and Lotus, but were rarely called by their proper names. I figured "a picture's worth a thousand words" so painted each room's namesake with its Chinese character in the centre. The original paintings now hang framed and illuminated in their classr
