Dragon, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook

Dragon, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook Far above the volcanic highlands, where the ridges glow like banked coals, a horned dragon keeps watch from the highest ledge. Lava threads down the black rock beneath its claws, and jagged peaks fade into a smoky orange sky. The old scholars wrote that this beast stirs whenever the mountain exhales, and here it stands, eyes bright, as if the next breath is already on its way. That sense of a sleeping mountain about to wake shapes the whole design. A large gold drop cap opens the word DRAGON, with a red subtitle, of the Volcanic Highlands, set beneath it over a small black ornament. A short scholar's entry in old style lettering fills the left column, and a framed window on the right shows the horned dragon perched on a lava lit cliff, its burnished gold scales catching the glow from below. A slim glowing gold rune marks the lower left corner. Burnished gold scales, lava orange, and smoky violet sky fill a warm parchment tone page with burnt looking edges, framed by blue and red acanthus scrolls, red and gold blossoms, four perched songbirds, and thin gold rails. • Horned dragon keeping watch on a glowing volcanic ridge • Gold drop cap D, red subtitle of the Volcanic Highlands, and a short scholar's lore entry • Burnished gold, lava orange, and smoky violet on a parchment tone page with a blue and red floral border • Part of the Mediaeval Bestiary Notebook Collection from Myth And Monsters
