Edgar Degas - Seated Dancer Invitation

Edgar Degas - Seated Dancer Invitation

Seated Dancer (Danseuse assise / Danseuse nouant son brodequin / Danseuse assise se massant le pied gauche), made between 1881 and 1883 in pastel on brown paper mounted on cardboard by French Impressionist painter Edgar Degas. A ballerina sits and massages her left foot, turning an unglamorous moment of physical recovery into the main subject. The bent leg, lowered head and compressed posture reveal the strain that surrounds ballet training without showing an actual dance step. Degas lets the brown paper participate in the image, building the figure with concentrated strokes of pastel rather than filling every part of the support. Such offstage gestures became central to his ballet pictures because they exposed the repetitive work and fatigue hidden behind performance.

So happy with the outcome! They are absolutely perfect, just what I imagined and more. Will be rrcommending this site to family and friends. Thank you. Printing was clear and visable. I was a little worried as one side was blue but it turned out great.
