Fencing with Death postcard: this vintage death art is by Alexander ver Huell 1822-1897 a Dutch illustrator with a macabre style. It depicts a young man fencing with Death. He executes a lunge straight for the heart which death snatches with his off hand as he prepares his own mortal blow. A living room can be seen in the background with books and a book case, a comfortable chair/sofa, maybe a footstool with the mans hat and coat laying on it and a painting and other wall hangings.
