Formentera Spain Postcard

Formentera is the smallest of Spain's main Balearic Islands, situated in the Mediterranean Sea just south of Ibiza. Accessible only by boat, it is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and stunning natural beauty, often being called the last paradise of the Mediterranean. The island's coastline is lined with some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, including Ses Illetes, famous for its impossibly clear, turquoise waters and powder-white sand, reminiscent of Caribbean islands. Unlike its lively neighbour Ibiza, Formentera maintains a more laid-back, bohemian feel, with no large hotels or major resorts. Visitors get around mostly by scooter or bicycle, exploring quaint villages, visiting lighthouses, and enjoying the serene landscapes. The surrounding waters are a protected natural park, home to extensive posidonia seagrass meadows, contributing to the incredible water clarity.
