This wonderfully romantic painting (also known as “A Lady’s Favour”) was created by the English painter Edmund Blair Leighton in 1900. A Lady’s knight is going off to war. She is tying her red scarf—her favour—around his arm. It is a symbol of the love she has for him that travels with him to keep him safe.
