Gothic Mandelbrot Tie

My second post from the lovely iPad fractal explorer app Frax. After playing around with the colours, I ended up with a contrasty and highly textured black and white look for this picture, which I thought was more interesting than the colour versions I had gone through before. This might look like the whole Mandelbrot set with an outlandish texture around it, but in fact, as you zoom in (and presuming you could zoom infinitely), you will be able to find an infinite number of these patterns repeated at different scales. And, speaking of scales: If the whole Mandelbrot set was the size of the Earth, the Mandelbrot pattern in the middle of this picture would be about the same size as the Apple logo on the back of an iPhone.
