Gustav Klimt - Stoclet Frieze Tree of Life Rectangular Sticker

Stoclet Frieze Triptych: Expectation / Tree of Life / Fulfilment, created around 1910-1911 in mixed media on paper by Austrian Symbolist Gustav Klimt. This triptych presentation brings together three principal motifs from Klimt's separate full-scale working drawings: the solitary figure of Expectation, the spiralling Tree of Life and the embracing couple of Fulfilment. Conceived for the dining room of the Palais Stoclet in Brussels, the original frieze designs were spread across multiple tracing-paper sheets rather than created as a single triptych. Figures and vegetation are flattened into ornamental signs, and the final decoration was executed from Klimt's designs by specialist craftsmen using exceptionally rich mosaic materials.
